First Grade
Futuristic Cities
In this unit, students virtually time-travelled to the year 3000, and created paintings based on what they saw from their adventure. Throughout the unit, students discussed the digital paintings of futuristic cities by artist Rob Brown, answered questions like "What makes a city?", and analyzed the opening theme to the Jetsons.

Students used crayon and watercolor resist to make futuristic "cityscapes." From Balloon People, to real-life Candyland, to alien invasions, students' futures all look bright, but very different.
